Woodstock/Canton/Holly Springs - Cherokee County
Georgia
The foothills show up before you expect them. Cherokee County, anchoring Woodstock and Canton at the northern edge of Atlanta's orbit, has absorbed two decades of growth without surrendering what made it worth moving to. Canton carries the older identity, a county seat with Etowah River roots and a main street that predates the subdivisions by a century. Woodstock runs newer and more commercially dense, its revitalized downtown drawing residents who want walkability without the city. Independent businesses have taken root in both. A Canton butcher whose regulars drive past three grocery stores to get there. Residents here are recent enough to still be deliberate about where they plant loyalty, and a neighborhood wine bar or familiar breakfast counter becomes part of weekly life faster than it might elsewhere. People who chose Cherokee County consciously tend to shop that way too, which is exactly the current LoLo runs on.
