Fort Wayne's Famous Coney Island

131 W Main St
Fort Wayne, IN 46802

Welcome to Coney Island! Stepping into the Coney Island is like stepping back in time—maybe not all the way to 1914, when we opened, but back to the days when going out for a couple of hotdogs was considered a real treat. Passersby can feast their eyes on the neatly lined rows of hotdogs cooking on the grill in the front window, and take in the nostalgic aromas of good times gone by.

Three Coney Dogs, Chips, and a Drink

What you get: 3 Coney Dogs, a bag of chips, and a drink The oldest coney stand in America! Opening on Calhaun Street in 1913, and moving to Main Street in 1914, Coney Island has taken on a life of its own. It is one of many Fort Wayne eateries established by Macedonians and maintained by their descendants. Russ Choka took the helm from his Father-in-Law in the 1950's and was a driving force and regular face for decades. Today, Jimmy Todoran (who started for Russ in 1986 at just 15!) and Kathy Choka (daughter of Russ) take on the role of caretakers; corporate titles would never work in this working-class hot dog joint with all walks of life.

Local Independent Businesses Are Our Favorites

At LoLo, we’re head over heels for local independent businesses, and for good reason! These heroes are what make our communities truly special. Did you know that neighborhoods with thriving indie shops see home values outperform others by a whopping 50%? Supporting local means, you’re not just enjoying unique goods but boosting your property value too! Plus, these local gems create two-thirds of private-sector jobs, keeping our friends and family employed right here at home. And here’s the kicker: for every $100 spent at a local business, an extra $58 stays in our local economy. That’s more money for better schools, safer streets, and everything that makes a community remarkable. When we support local independents, we’re not just spreading delight – we’re investing in the very heart and soul of our neighborhoods.
