Life at the Shack is fun. Our mission is to provide local, fresh, sustainable food and drink with a hefty dose of southern hospitality. Our all-natural, hormone- and antibiotic-free beef is from North Carolina pasture-raised cattle. We serve craft beers brewed in North Carolina and produce from as many local farmers as possible. We make all of our specialty toppings and dressings in the Shack. The Shack itself was built on the same local and sustainable principles. Almost 100% of the interior was recycled from the existing space, our picnic tables and bar tops are made from reclaimed wood and some of the bricks for the patio steps are over 200 years old. We thrive on feeding you delicious, made-to-order food and getting to know you and your families. We're proud to be a part of this community. And we feel the love right back. The Baxter Bar and Arcade’s doors opened to the public on October 24th, 2014. The minds behind the Baxter are Joe Miller, Alex Joustra, Danny Miller, and Nick Stroud. Between the four of them they bring over thirty years of bar industry experience in the Triangle area. The Baxter, named after the Baxter Building in the Fantastic Four comics, offers a relaxed, tongue-in-cheek atmosphere decorated with amazing pop art, old pinball back-glasses, and arcade inspired designs. The Baxter strives to bring you an experience like no other bar in the Triangle, with its nerd-chic atmosphere and fifty vintage, all-original arcade games. The Baxter Boys spent months hunting down some of the biggest titles from the arcade industry’s golden age, between the years of 1978 and 1998. To add to the atmosphere and ever growing arcade selection, the Baxter offers the best in local beers and micro brews, plus a great selection of liquor and wine. The Baxter has all the favorites, from PBR Tall Boys to their most favored specialty drink: the “She-Hulk”. Founded by a mother-daughter entrepreneur team of Susan Manring and Carolyn Griggs, the location has become an important community gathering place. In 2017, in an attempt to develop operational and staff synergies with the three-season Honeysuckle Tea House, local investors purchased the Looking Glass Cafe. At the end of 2018, Unique Places to Save purchased a 50% interest in the Looking Glass Cafe and rebranded the property as the Honeysuckle Cafe and Bar.
